Since 2004 DieMount is manufacturing splitters and other passive optical components for use with polymer optical fibers (POF) according to the process described in “Manufacturing POF Splitters“. The main application area was initially the in-house demand for 1×2 splitters for bidirectional data transmission on a single polymer fiber (directional multiplex method with simplex cable). When splitters were also requested as components on customer request, the development of new and other types of passive POF components started. With sufficient demand, they were added to the list of standard products in addition to splitters for simplex data transmission.
